About Us
Our mission is to promote the sport of Ultimate Frisbee as a vehicle for community building, physical health, and personal growth. We are committed to fostering a spirit of sportsmanship, leadership and integrity.
While many Ultimate organizations folded during Covid, NWI Ultimate had its inception. Players from across Lake, Porter, and La Porte counties in Indiana gathered to get out, have fun, and play ultimate. As the group grew, there was talk of forming a club team, the Skyrats, to play in tournaments. But why travel when you can play right where you are. So they contacted the local parks department to set up a league and put the word out across Northwest Indiana.
In 2025 after 4 successful years of adult leagues in Porter County, and in order to expand into Lake County and establish youth teams, NWI Ultimate became an official 501c3 organization and USAU affiliate.
In 2026 it launched its first high school club team at Portage High School and hosted its first club tournament, the NWI Tune Up.
